Agricultural Extension

This department handles five undergraduate courses totaling ten credits. The College as well as the state Department of Agriculture.

Training in Extension Methods and techniques is a part of the curriculum for all undergraduate students. Refresher training courses in subject matter and extension were conducted by the department of Extension personnel of the state Department of Agriculture (DOA).

In addition to the main activity of teaching, the Department has been undertaking research and extension activities as presented hereunder.

Teaching

Training in Extension Methods and techniques is a part of the curriculum for all undergraduate students.

Besides, the training module in the specific areas of Extension Principles, Philosophy, Methods, Audio-Visual Aids, Programme Planning, Rural Sociology, Educational Psychology, Rural Development Programmes, and recent advances in Extension Education is imparted to the first, second, and third-year students in the case of undergraduates.

The methodology of teaching consists of lectures and practical training for which adequate provision was made in the College timetable.

Rural Agricultural Works Experience Programme (RAWEP) was part of the curriculum and the students were provided with an opportunity to work with farmers in the villages during the First semester of the Final B.Sc (Ag) Course. This department is one of the catalysts for the smooth running of RAWEP.
